At Christian James Associates Ltd in Sunderland we specialise in providing health and safety support to small and medium-size businesses. Our Competent Health and Safety Advisor Service package keeps our clients compliant with health and safety law and ensures that suitable arrangements are in place to protect their employees and any third parties within their responsibilities.
The Management of Health at Work Regulations 1999 state:
'Every employer shall appoint one or more competent persons to assist them in undertaking the measures he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed upon him by or under the relevant statutory provisions.'
What do I get?
This service includes the following depending on the client's requirements and aspirations including:
- Initial discussion with a health and safety consultant and an annual site visit to the company premises. This includes an in-depth review of existing health and safety documentation, policy, organisational responsibilities, specific arrangements and procedures, risk assessments, safe systems of work, etc.
- A briefing to management on the annual review and a comprehensive written report. This would identify all key issues and a schedule prioritising their rectification in terms of risk and timescales, therefore demonstrating their continuous improvement.
- Entitlement to designate us as your "Competent Health and Safety Advisor" for insurance purposes (possible discounts with some insurers), bid/marketing documentation and corporate literature. A Certificate from us will be issued on appointment to display in a focal point, should you so wish, indicating your company's commitment to health and safety and that of your employees and third parties within your responsibilities.
- An unlimited gateway to professional advice via telephone and email as required answering your health and safety queries as and when needed.
- Access to information on health and safety legislation and any new or amended legislation coming into power, ensuring readiness, should this legislation have an impact on your business.
Additional Services
Our additional services include:
- The drafting and installation of a new bespoke comprehensive Health & Safety Policy together with a General Policy Statement, management organisation and responsibilities and specific arrangements to meet the company's requirements
- Assistance or full submission for CHAS and/or Safe Contractor, SMAS and other SSiP’s applications
- Assistance or full submissions of pre-qualification questionnaires/ health and safety bid documents
- Quarterly site visits to undertake site safety tours
- Construction site inspections
- Preparing Construction Phase Plans in line with CDM 2015 requirements
- Reviewing work procedures and developing method statements/ safe systems of work
- Writing risk assessments
- A consultant to attend regular meetings to discuss safety-related issues.
